Indigenous Leadership Program Lands in Sydney

Empowering the next generation of Indigenous girls through basketball, culture, and leadership with Olympian Annie La Fleur.

She Hoops is bringing the power of basketball and leadership to Sydney with a one-of-a-kind Indigenous Leadership Program.

On Saturday, 23rd November, the Alexandria Basketball Stadium will host an inspiring day where culture, sport, and connection come together to empower the next generation of Indigenous leaders.

Leading the program is none other than Annie La Fleur – Olympian, Australian Opal, WNBL star, and Basketball NSW’s ICALD Program Manager. With her wealth of experience on and off the court, Annie will guide participants through an engaging day that focuses not just on developing basketball skills, but also on fostering resilience, confidence, and leadership.

The She Hoops initiative is designed to highlight the important role that sport plays in creating opportunities, building cultural pride, and strengthening connections among young Indigenous women and girls. By combining physical activity with mentorship and storytelling, the program aims to nurture leadership qualities that extend beyond the court and into everyday life.

This exciting event is made possible with the support of Basketball NSW, Sydney Comets, Kulbardi Aboriginal Centre, and the I Am A Girl initiative. Together, these organisations are committed to creating inclusive pathways where Indigenous voices and leadership can thrive.
