She Hoops are excited to announce that Ally Wilson will extend her work with the program into the Indigenous Leadership Program.

Wilson (Ngarrindjeri) has been a proud First Nations representative as a player across multiple levels of Australian basketball and will use her passion and experience to advance the Indigenous Leadership Program which commences in Canberra on 1 October.

Ally was a part of the Seven Consulting Opals first-ever Asia Cup gold medal in July 2025 and spoke to the natural evolution as a She Hoops ambassador into this specialist role.

“I’m excited to continue to work in a space that I'm passionate about,” said Wilson.

“I love giving back and being able to work with Indigenous community and using my experiences to guide and mentor the next generation,”

“The She Hoops movement has been incredible for providing opportunity and inspiring  girls and women. It’s getting bigger and bigger, and I’m excited to be on board and help that growth,” she added.

The expansion of She Hoops is integral to the work of She Hoops and Lauren Jackson AO OLY, General Manager of Women in Basketball at Basketball Australia.

“Ally has been incredible as an ambassador for She Hoops and we’re excited to have her involved with the Indigenous Leadership Program as it will allow for her voice, leadership and lived experience to have a direct impact,” said Jackson.

She Hoops partnered with the Aboriginal Basketball Academy in 2024 to launch the Indigenous Leadership Program with a curriculum tailored for Indigenous girls aged between 14-17.

The Indigenous Leadership Program is a holistic program aimed at offering Indigenous girls a range of new skills with physical, social and emotional benefits.

The initiative is delivered with support of the Bibbulmun Fund, a fund of the Fremantle Foundation comprised of Aboriginal-owned businesses Kulbardi and Kooya.

She Hoops announced that Kulbardi and the Bibbulmun Fund were extending their partnership last month and Brock Beall, General Manager at Kulbardi spoke to the advancement of the Indigenous Leadership Program.

“Investing in the She Hoops Indigenous Leadership program through the Bibbulmun Fund is a natural extension of the long-term vision for Kulbardi and Kooya collective,” said Brock Beall, General Manager – Kulbardi.

“At our heart, we’re driven by the responsibility to give back to our First Nations community and to lift up the next generation as they step into their future.

“She Hoops beautifully reflects this purpose creating a space where Indigenous women can grow in confidence, leadership, and connection, while developing their skills physically, socially and emotionally. Together, we’re helping shape strong, empowered leaders who will carry our culture and communities forward.”

A full schedule of locations and registration information will be distributed by She Hoops soon.
